It was lovely to meet a group of such hard working and friendly people as the MBGRG members I found in Kirkmichael Churchyard on Sunday 14th Aug. Well done to you for all the great work you're doing in Moray burial grounds. Thank you for heading me in the direction of the Kennedy headstone I was seeking, and for allowing me to view a recently uncovered stone. Very detailed and interesting process. If I'd had more time, I'd have joined in and helped, but it's always a thought for a working holiday!

Helen born around 1832 married in1852 Scotland. If you come across this name that would be great to hear from you. Across the ocean in the USA.

Thank you very much to everyone involved in capturing the information that is recorded on this site - it's an amazing achievement and has been of great assistance to me in tracing my family line. Living in Devon now this site is so useful. I've searched the records for my GGG Grandmothers burial but without success and wonder if anyone can help. Her baptism records list her as Jean Dowe (1813) and she died in 1858 in Aultonside, Orbliston, where she was recorded as Jane Ross (married surname was Ross). Her death certificate records that she is buried in Dipple Churchyard yet I can't find any record of her burial in that location. I've tried variations on her married and maiden surnames - so far without success. If anyone has any thoughts on alternative approaches I could take I'd appreciate them.

I can find no trace of a memorial, and though there is a reference to her in the Moray Local Heritage Centre records there is no reference to a stone number. |

Does anyone know anything about Hugh Mackie (born in Rothes in 1770) and died somewhere in Moray - probably Rothes, sometime between 1851 (in Rothes for the census that year) and 1862 when his wife Janet Riach died in Blackhills, Elgin. She was described as a widow when she died. So Hugh died sometime between 1851 and 1862, probably 1851 and 1854. I know Hugh's father was William Mackie but don't know who his mother was. I am keen to find out more about Hugh and the generation before. Can anyone help me with this? William Mackie was my GGGGG grandfather.
