I am searching for the grave of my Great Grandfather William Douglas, 1813 (Dallas, farm Rhinenver) -1892 (Edinburgh), sent by rail to Elgin for burial either Elgin or Dallas. This info originates from letter 26 June 1892 to son Robert Douglas from brother Hugh Douglas, Bishopmile, Elgin. William Douglas was Master Grocer, 305, High Street, Elgin.

Webmaster comments   Can anyone help John with this?

Thank you very much indeed. What a perfect photograph of Boharm Churchyard, stone No 067.
Alexander Fraser was my Great x3 Grandfather.
I'm 75% Sassenach.... and I've only recently started to make progress in tracing my Scots lineage, this has been a major help!
I'm sure that there are plenty more of my ancestors that lived in or around the Moray region, and it may well be that I'll be in contact again shortly!
Thanks again, and good luck with all of the great work you are doing.
David

Can anyone help with David's research?

My heartfelt thanks to the Moray Burial Ground Research Group. From someone on the other side of the world who, most likely, will never have the opportunity to visit Scotland, I'm very grateful that your team has taken the time to record this history and make it available.
A few years ago, in the course of our family history research we discovered that there had been memorials dedicated to family members, but had no idea that they actually still existed.
The Kinnedar and Macallan MI's and photos you have sent... Fantastic.
You've made my day!!!
Kind regards
Helen Harman

This site was recomened by my tutor Alastair MacDonald Strathclyde Uni. and he wasn't wrong, what a great site, I'm doing a paper on Boyndie old churchyard, just wondered if you had any work already done on that graveyard. Boyndie (St Brandon's) the old one

Webmaster comments   This particular churchyard, just outwith our Moray research area. Suggest you contact ANESFHS who may be able to help you with your research.

I'm researching the William Ross family of Lossiemouth. He was a blacksmith (1802-1877) and married Jane Thomson (1798 - 1872. I know that Jane Thomson was living in John Riach's Vinter in Lossiemouth when she married in 1828. I'm hoping the record for John Riach I requested is the same person. Also, is there anyone local researching the names Ross, Riach, or Thomson in Lossiemouth or Rothes? I believe Jane Thomson's father was Patrick (or Peter) Thomson and her mother's maiden name was Beatrix Riach and both were from Rothes. Please feel free to pass my request for help on these families to anyone who may be more knowledgeable about these families. Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Many congratulations to the Webmaster for all his hard work in bringing MBGRG into the age of electronic payments with full access to Pay Pal. Take a bow that man!

What a fantastic web resource you have created, the maps are brilliant.

I am still searching for my eighteenth century Thomas Anderson stonemason ancestor at Forres, so I will be sure to visit again!

Webmaster comments   Thanks for the first 2010 visitor message to our Guestbook Tom! We will continue to add new records during the coming year, and hope we can help with your research.

Webmaster
Very best wishes for 2010 to all our visitors, and Members.
In January, we hope to make available, the new edition of our Dallas MI publication, which includes minor updates, the addition of all buried stones, and with extra colour plates.
Note that the Jan 2008 edition is no longer in print.
March should see the publication of our latest effort - MI's for the RC churchyard of St Ninian's (aka Chapelford).

MBGRG would be delighted to have an on-line MI/Photo ordering and payment service for the convenience of our visitors. This has been considered, but it is financially impractical for such a small volunteer Group.
Our main aim is to record the data and publish our results for all. Sales of these publications raise only a very small income which, together with our Membership Fees are used fully to finance research of further sites.
Thank you for your support

Webmaster comments   March 2010.
Since this Guestbook entry was placed, further considerations is being given to having some form of PayPal payment options on the site. We will post details, when there is something positive to report!

Pardon me, but I am still confused, how do I actually get a transcription and photo. Where do I order??
29 September 2009 - New Brunswick, Canada

Webmaster comments   You should email Keith Mitchell our Chairman and Photographic Archivist(groupchairman@mbgrg.org) giving details of the item or items you are interested in, quoting the churchyard name, stone number (also helps to include one named individual from the stone), and whether you require an MI transcript and/or Photograph.
Keith will then check the MI/Photo Archive, and mail you back with full details of what is available, cost and payment options.
