Hi, Trying to find where my Gt Gt Grandfather James Younie was buried. I was told Old Spynie Kirkyard. He was James younie b 5/10/1827 at Rothes. Married twice. Died about 1910?. He was an elder in the Kirk and also an auctioneer, sheriff at Rothes Breich Street. His son James b 1860 went to Tasmania. (My Gt Grandfather)

Has anybody come across the burial location of my ancestor named Alexander Grant (dates unknown)? He was a "Society schoolmaster" and lived at the Fairburn Estate, Parish of Urray in the early 1800s. He might have been married twice. His first wife is unknown, and his 2nd wife was Catherine Ross. Alexander possibly died in Grantown. I'm a descendant of his son John (1769-1820), a merchant, who married Jean Fraser in Inverness in 1801. They immigrated to the United States in 1807 and eventually settled in Carmi, Illinois.

Found your most helpful website. I am looking for any help to find Murray family as follows:- Daughter Elspeth Murray married Alexander Proctor on 08/07/1824 in New Spynie. Their daughter Isabella was born in Kirkton of Mortlach. Only other likely link is that Isabella's daughter married James Asher of Elgin whose mother was Margaret Murray born 1816 in Duffus and married in St Andrews Lhanbryde to William Asher. Hope some-one can give me a steer in the right direction. LDS site has 2 entries for the same people and the same date viz Elspeth Murray and Alexander Proctor 08 JUL 1824 with 2 places New Spynie and Duffus. Thanks Heather

Hi, My great grandparents Alexander and Ann Mckenzie are buried in Kirkhill Cemetary along with 3 of their children, (headstone #27). I was wondering who I could contact to find out if the family memorial stone is still in good condition, as I'm not sure if any family members are still alive in the Moray area. I have a picture of it taken in the 1960's. I would like to find out as well, who placed it there as the last date on it is from 1943. Thank-you. Don Mckenzie.

Dipple cemetry has steps built into wall, similar to St Mary's, Rattray Head. Why? What purpose?
